5th Stage from Carrapateira to Arrafine

Had a great sleep, thanks to the homemade Port wine!

The breakfast was also fantastic, homemade!

And then putting on freshly washed clothes, especially the socks!

At the supermarket 'Irene', you can find everything, even Dubai chocolate. But all I need is fresh water. Off we go.

The first 8 kilometers are tough, the path is very sandy.

But later comes one of the most beautiful coastal stretches so far. And I get to see a stork's nest on an offshore island.

In between, a nice rest in a lovely local place somewhere in the middle of nowhere.

The weather forecast from this morning was completely accurate. From my perspective, it's advantageous that I'm walking the fisherman's path from south to north. This way, I mostly have the sun at my back (and not in my face), and when a nice breeze comes, the wind pleasantly blows in my face.

Just before my stage destination, it goes very steeply down to sea level, only to lead back up just as steeply; exhausting, but the beautiful coastal section was worth it all.
