Profound waterlessness

Published: 03.11.2018

At 8:30 am, there is a knock on the door and a delicious breakfast is brought in. The sun is shining from the sky, but unfortunately, it is too windy outside to have breakfast. Our sausages are blowing off the plate.

But we still have the 2nd coffee/tea on the terrace and enjoy the view.

The Blue Mountains, a primeval landscape with rainforest and rugged canyons. They owe their name to the oil of the 91 eucalyptus tree species found here. The evaporating oil forms a fine mist that covers the valley with a blue shimmer. The major disadvantage is the high risk of forest fires here.

Let's go back to the 2nd coffee/tea on the terrace. As always unprepared, we consult the travel guide and the internet while enjoying the hot drink to find out what there is to see here. And in no time, the plan is made.

Sublime Point, an advanced rock 900 meters above the abyss, opens today's day.

Next to the "Gordon Falls", described as a spectacular place in the travel guide.

Not worth the walk to the pool. The waterfalls don't seem to have any water here.

Next stop is "Echo Point". From here, you can see the "three sisters".

According to legend, the 3 sisters were transformed into sandstone columns by their father to keep them away from their lovers.

Also from here, you can see the steepest cable car in the world, with a 52% incline. It used to transport coal, but since 1958, it has been transporting tourists through the jungle.

Wow, it's crowded here. People are being brought in by buses.

They even put on a little show. A few well-built French boys played "Rocky". It was a real spectacle - well, the youth. Sometimes it's true, lots of 💪 little 🧠.

After a quick meal in Katoomba's eating street, we head to the last viewpoint, "Cahills".

From here, too, you have a magnificent view. At the edge of the cliff, the wind almost blows Carsten's shirt off, well, at least up to his chest.

What a wind. He can really gain speed against the smooth rock face.

Now there are only 2 points left on our list

Enjoy the sunset on the terrace

and devour a steak at the local bowling club, which is said to be the best in the Blue Mountains. Unfortunately, we cannot confirm that because they were all sold out. Too bad. My alternative, vegetarian lasagna, was delicious. Now we let the evening fade away with a glass of sparkling wine. It's also delicious.
