The flight was anything but relaxing. In all my flight times, I have never experienced the service being suspended so often and even the staff having to fasten their seatbelts because it was so bumpy. Surprisingly, I managed to fall asleep well. Well, maybe it was also because of the time (3:00 am). But up until then, it took me at least an hour to find the right seating position. How does that work, you may wonder. Just sit down, buckle up, and adjust the backrest. It's not that simple in premium economy. In addition to the adjustable backrest, there is an adjustable footrest and a support for the calves. Such a fold-out support as you know it from recliners. And all these 3 components have to be coordinated with each other. That takes time. In addition, despite wearing compression stockings, I had the feeling that my legs were swelling. That's why I had to constantly move my feet and legs. Eventually, fatigue prevailed. The sheep didn't last long, because 1 1/2 hours before landing (scheduled for 6:30 am local time), the lights were turned on and breakfast was served. I don't know if it was due to the turbulence, but this time the service, by Singapore Airlines, wasn't that great. Well, let's see how it goes tomorrow, on the flight from Singapore to Munich.
So we have moved closer to you again with a time difference of 7 hours.
After we checked into our room and then changed again an hour later because the bed was so hard, the bed is now bigger but not softer. Apparently, Asians love to sleep on firm mattresses. We ordered an extra topper. Well, I will survive one night.
Actually, we were very tired, but sleeping would be counter-productive. So we explored the malls in the vicinity to relax. At least it was cool there, because outside it is currently between 30 and 35 degrees with 85% humidity. We are already looking forward to being at home with 30 degrees less 🥶🥶🥶🥶.
After 3 hours of shopping, we were so exhausted that we had to take a 2-hour lunch break. It felt good, but it takes time to get back into the swing of things. However, there is still a lot on the agenda. Definitely "Gardens by the Bay" for today.
and preferably at sunset. Well, we don't know if that will work with the sunset, as it is a bit cloudy, but hope dies last.
💡Gardens by the Bay is part of a government strategy to improve the quality of life for residents through green spaces in the city. The garden consists of 2 massive greenhouses, the Flower Dome with plants from Mediterranean or semi-arid climates.
and the Cloud Forest with subtropical plants.
and the largest covered waterfall.
By the way, the Flower Dome is the largest glass greenhouse in the world. Another attraction in the Gardens by the Bay are the Super Trees, steel trees covered with plants (heights between 25 and 50 meters).
The trees are also used to supply the facility. Solar energy is generated for lighting and cooling systems, rainfall is collected for irrigation of the plants, and some of the trees serve as cooling towers for the cooling systems in the glasshouses. A sky walk, high up in the air, connects 2 trees with each other.
A fantastic park. Beautifully designed with great attention to detail.
Figures are embedded everywhere in various plants or bodies of water.
A real oasis of well-being in the middle of a turbulent metropolis.
Just in time for Christmas, we also got to experience Christmas Wonderland, a mix of Christmas lights, a Christmas market, and a fairground with a plastic ice rink.
Heat makes people inventive. The highlight was the nightly light show. Really, really great.
And since Christmas is coming soon and the songs of White Christmas are also playing here, we also had a pound of snow on top.
A truly successful evening even though our feet hurt, we were completely exhausted, and our stomachs were growling. On the way was "Hans im Glück". A burger, a cocktail, a taxi, and a pat on the backside, what else does one need........
......to sleep
