Montafon, the Bolis are here

Published: 21.07.2022

The alarm clock woke us up at 6:30 after a short, sleepless night (this excitement...!). We finished some things, packed up and cleaned up, and at around 8 o'clock we said goodbye to Calvin with a little sadness and started our journey. Surprisingly, the drive was completely free of traffic jams and went smoothly. The Bocki with rolls that André wanted was thankfully available for lunch... for only €4.99!

After almost exactly 8 hours, we reached our destination and were excited from the very beginning! The grounds of Cabinski are totally 'cute' and lovingly designed. Gravel paths wind around the cottages, surrounded by wildflowers and grasses... everything seems a bit tighter and denser than expected, but still each one is for itself. Forested slopes, a rushing river nearby, and otherwise wonderful peace and quiet. We've already spotted the herb raised beds, they definitely need to be examined more closely.

Cabinski itself is a feast for the eyes! Although it has been booked and occupied almost constantly for about 1.5 years, everything looks so clean and well-maintained, almost like new. Oak parquet flooring, untreated spruce wood paneling on the walls, furniture made of birch wood - by the way, all made from Austrian wood from near Salzburg - high-quality Portuguese stoneware dishes, table tops made of wild oak, felt coasters made from wool of the Montafon Stone Sheep... as cheesy as it may sound, but that stands for the concept of sustainability, minimal ecological footprint, and as much regionalism as possible.

Nevertheless, the luxury must not go unmentioned, such as the rainforest shower in the bathroom, from which almost lime-free mountain water runs. Electrically operated blinds on the patio door and the skylight (which also automatically closes in case of rain). Sonox speakers, which can be connected to spotify in the bathroom or living area. And everywhere there are USB sockets in addition to conventional power outlets. Even the small table lamp on the dining table is portable and can be charged with USB.

The outdoor area is an absolute hit... the pictures speak for themselves...

In the early evening, we went to explore the area a bit, we practically live right next to 2 valley stations for mountain railways (Grasjoch and Valisera). There are also several restaurants that look cozy and rustic, where we will definitely stop by. But not today, because on the way back we bought eggs and Montafoner Sura Cheese (local cheese specialty) for breakfast at the self-service refrigerator at the neighboring farm. Quickly ordered rolls online, cooked pasta for dinner, and enjoyed it in a cozy way.

Now we are sitting in our outdoor paradise, the crickets are chirping, the music is playing in the background, and the sun is slowly setting.

That's how it goes, that's how it can stay... Montafon, we have arrived!

Stay happy

Tina & André
