After Mumbai, I continued southwards to Varkala in the state of Kerala.
It became even warmer, sunnier and more pleasant, as well as cleaner, more relaxed but also more touristy.
I covered the approximately 600km by flight (Mumbai - Trivandrum). From Trivandrum airport, it is about 1 hour taxi ride to Varkala, which wasn't too bad.
In the few days that I was here, I changed my accommodation several times. Sometimes because the place was fully booked, then again because of the lack of air conditioning...in the end, I ended up in a homestay with air conditioning right on the beach. It cost me a whopping 25€ per night, but it was worth it.
My daily routine here was quite simple...surfing in the morning, breakfast, nap and/or hanging out in the hammock, surfing again in the afternoon/evening, dinner, chilling.
It sounds easy, and it was! My productivity was not particularly high, but my tan has reached a good level by now and I am getting the hang of surfing.
The chapter of India is now temporarily over for me. But I definitely have to come back, because I have only seen half of the things I wanted to see here due to the long distances and the difficult long-distance connections...
The eastern side of India remained completely unexplored for me, but I will definitely visit it at some point!
Tomorrow, I will take a taxi at 6am to go back to Trivandrum airport and from there, catch a flight to Sri Lanka, where I hopefully can spend another 3 weeks with fun, relaxation, and lots of sun, beach, and surfing!
