Tuesday September 19th 2023 Campiello - Berdocedo

So today the Hospitales Tour. Reports about this tour always warn that you should only undertake it if you are fit enough and have enough water (at least 2.5 liters), as there is not a single place to stop for refreshments along the way. We started a little later in the morning, around 8:30 a.m., because thick fog had formed. After about 4km of the route you could still decide whether to take the easy version or the Hospitales route. But we then decided on the more difficult option. As soon as we were on this path, the sun came out and pushed the fog deeper into the valley. We first walked along pleasant dirt roads in one direction, upwards. Later it became increasingly rocky and more difficult because some of the paths were very washed out. But all of this effort was ultimately worth it because of the many great views and views we were able to enjoy. At the end of the stage it was still very tough and tiring because the heat was really getting to us. We were very happy when we reached our destination in Berducedo after 27.5 km, 1,000m up and 700 down. The first cerveza tasted particularly good 😋.
