Montag 18. Sep. 2023 Salas - Campiello

We started from our refuge at 8 a.m. and knew "this path won't be easy". From Salas it was a continuous 7km climb on stony paths. We had to climb 500 meters in altitude to get out of the valley. Once at the top, a beautiful, wide plain opened up and we walked on a high path over beautiful, but partly muddy dirt roads due to previous rain, to our snack stop in Tineo. After 2 delicious Café Con Leche and Spanish Jamon, we went slightly uphill again to a high plateau. From there we had a great panoramic view of the Asturian mountains. After Campiello it was an unspectacular route over field and asphalt paths. In total it was 33.2 km today, including 1,000m up and 730 down. Tomorrow there is another challenge with the tour of the infamous Hospitales.
