Our last brewery on the tour was Hill Farmstead Brewing. I was particularly looking forward to this one, as it has displaced The Alchemist as the number one brewery. Hill Farmsted has also been highly praised. They have a newly built brewery section that you can see from the tasting room. One thing that stood out when ordering: the beer has foam! Normally, foam is not considered important in the USA, and it's even poured with as little foam as possible.
Poetica #1 (German-style Pilsner aged in French oak) 4.8%
Very good Bavarian Pilsner that gets an interesting touch from being aged in oak barrels.
Of First and Last Things (American IPA) 6.5%
Very tasty and fruity NEIPA with Motueka, Nelson Sauvin, and Simcoe hops.
Shirley Mae (Session Porter with coffee and lactose, served on nitrogen) 3.8%
Incredibly delicious porter. Easy to drink, with a vibrant and refreshing coffee flavor, and the lactose combined with nitrogen rounds it all off.
Hill Farmstead really impressed me. It's a beautiful brewery in the middle of nowhere, with incredible beers and a nice atmosphere - fantastic! Their other beers, like Arthur Saison or Edward IPA, are also very well-crafted.
