Actually, I had planned to ride over 90 kilometers today again. The fact that it turned out to be just a little over 70 kilometers is due to entering my accommodation for today in the wrong place. Luckily, I noticed it in time and didn’t have to turn back in the other place. This has once again confirmed that it’s worth checking everything multiple times.
For breakfast, I had two pieces of bread and homemade black tea. I wanted to save the large fig yogurt for my 30-kilometer break. Thanks to this short breakfast pause, I was soon on the e-bike.
There was only a light wind coming from behind. And the traffic was even lighter, allowing me to approach today’s ride without stress.
Very often, the road led straight through huge forests. It always ran along the Russian border. Once, apparently so close that my phone warned me, firstly with an unpleasant sound and secondly with an appropriate text on the display. However, I couldn’t decipher it with my sunglasses on.
Last year, I rode a lot on the Camino de Santiago in Portugal and Spain. I wouldn’t have believed that I would also encounter the Camino in Lithuania. Walking to Santiago de Compostela is already quite a distance from where we are; from here, there must be another two thousand kilometers to cover. I received this information: In Lithuania, there is a section of the Camino de Santiago, known as the 'Lithuanian Camino' or 'Camino in Lithuania.' This route passes through various cities and landscapes of the country and connects lived traditions with the pilgrim experience.
In Jurbakas, almost at the destination, I had a conversation with an old man who was just about to ride off on his old bicycle. He then wanted to take me to a grocery store and took a detour so I could see a bit of the town.
Nothing adventurous or unusual happened today; it was just a beautiful travel day that I could enjoy.
