Today we had to get up at 3:45 AM to head to the airport. Unfortunately, our pickup service didn’t show up, which once again led to some adrenaline spikes. Fortunately, our receptionist was able to quickly order a taxi, so we managed to reach the departure on time.
The sunrise during the flight promises a sunny day. And that’s how it turns out, although it is still cold and windy in the morning.
We spend most of the morning picking up and outfitting the vehicle. Afterwards, we shop for groceries and some camping supplies. We really stock up on groceries since we won’t see a proper supermarket for another two weeks.
Before leaving “Alice,” we treat ourselves to a good meal at the “Base Café 0870” of the RFDS (Royal Flying Doctor Service).
It feels good to get out of the city. We head west to the MacDonnell Ranges. The red rock chains with their green edges have a very calming effect on the mind and soul.
The crowning finale is a visit to Simpsons Gap - a magical place!
