Moraine Lake and hidden treasures ...

Published: 10.06.2023

This morning at 7 my alarm went off, although I was already awake. I was really looking forward to this special lake. You can only get there by shuttle buses. After standing in the wrong corner, someone from the bus company discovered me and I was on my way. I was a bit annoyed again. Even when I'm on time, the others still had to wait for me πŸ™„

Once I arrived at the top, most of the tourists took a quick picture of the lake and then turned around. Well, now it's in the box. Of course, I went to the insta hotspot picture first, but then I walked along the riverbank and made great discoveries. For example, I found an engraving in a piece of wood lying in the water, on which I briefly sat down to enjoy the view.

Furthermore, I watched a funny bird that I asked to come closer so that I could take a nice picture. And he did πŸ˜‰ I thanked him for posing so well and continued on. I walked very slowly and attentively today. I found many magically twisted wooden roots.

As I sat down on a washed-out wooden log to meditate and let my gaze wander over the shimmering blue, a man on my right spoke to me, saying, 'oh you have a little friend'. Still far away in my thoughts and with closed eyes, I wondered who he could mean. Curiously, I opened my eyes and he pointed to a cute chipmunk standing on my left foot, looking at me πŸ˜„ I didn't expect to be so close to the little one. When I looked at him, he quickly scurried away. Only then did I notice that, just before the man said that, it was warm on my left foot. He had such cute tiny paws 😍😍😍

Presumably, he has already been fed by other tourists, which is absolutely forbidden here. Otherwise, how could he be so brave πŸ™‚ They are a bit bigger than squirrels, although I have also seen some big ones here - like a half cat πŸ˜„πŸ˜…πŸ˜„ they just have to climb really well and high here. But they are usually black. The red squirrels, on the other hand, are much smaller, or maybe I've only seen young ones so far. They run around the campsite so cutely. From left to right, and so on. There are also many magpies here. Most of them are either hiding or playing hide and seek in the trees. That means one always jumps to the opposite side of the trunk and looks at the one who sees him. It is so funny to watch them, and they squawk loudly πŸ˜€

I discovered another chip further up the mountain, which looked directly at me as if it was posing for me. I was able to capture it wonderfully with Anna's good camera πŸ˜‰

Tonight, it's raining a little bit. I think it's good for the nature here.

Tomorrow, I wanted to go towards Louis Lake. I can probably get there easily from my campground, but the path leads through a narrow gorge where bears are often sighted, as they are forced to walk where the trail is due to the steep slope. The staff at the visitor center and many others strongly advised me to take bear spray for this trip. So far, I've avoided it. I didn't feel good about it, and apparently, it's so strong that it even affects yourself, meaning your eyes will tear up and your nose will itch/irritate. Some guy in a sports store told me that he hadn't seen any bears in 7 years and then saw many within 2 years. You just never know.

I'm considering changing my plans for the next few days. Changing campgrounds. Here, there are wagon trains passing by several times a day until late in the evening, and it's really noisy. On the other hand, I am relatively secluded here and surrounded by many pines :)

I don't miss anything. I am absolutely free and happy. Only my mind sometimes wants to tell me something else ;)

I talked to the salesperson in the sports store who was working on a fully (bicycle) and I was looking at it longingly and said that I had to leave mine in Germany because I couldn't take/carry everything. He then suggested to bring my bike, my family, and everyone here and just stay here, he highly recommends it πŸ˜„πŸ˜‰πŸŒ²πŸ—»β™₯️

I experience time differently here. By now, I have also gotten used to not being able to contact you whenever I feel like it, but that's okay. Certain times have crystallized πŸ˜‰

My good night is your morning πŸ™‚

It gets dark for me when it gets light for you.

I send you hugs from afar.

Stardust greetings πŸ’«
