Short trip to Cape Town

Published: 18.10.2019

On our third day, we spent a day in Cape Town with our supervisors Cathy and Tanja to get a brief insight into the opportunities available to us.

We were picked up at 8 am in the morning along with other volunteers.

Our driver's name was actually Ulrich.

Ulrich is a really cool guy (see picture). Ulrich and our supervisors took us through a park in Cape Town. On the way to the city, we visited a church and walked through the market called Greenmarket Square.

Our next stop was the famous "Bo-Kap" street where many colorful houses can be seen. After that, we continued to the Noon Gun Square.

The Noon Gun is fired every day at exactly 12 o'clock from Signal Hill, a few hundred meters above the roofs of the city.

From Signal Hill, we continued along the coast, where we made a short stop at Camps Bay beach.

Then we made our way to the "Waterfront", an old harbor area with many shops and a variety of food options.

Afterwards, we drove back to the house for about an hour.

In the evening, there was a big "Braais" (that's what they call grilling here) for all the volunteers - currently there are 61 volunteers living in Cape Town.
