Oktoberfest in Costa Rica – where else would it be?

It is Sunday, 6:00 PM, and it's been pitch dark for more than an hour. Actually, it typically gets dark around 6:00 PM, but during rain and thunderstorms, it can be dark even during the day. We just came back from shopping – the stores are open even on Sundays here – but unfortunately, the traffic is chaotic and the streets are crowded. Without a GPS, we would be lost here.

But now let's talk about yesterday's Oktoberfest. It took place in the community hall next to our apartment, so we had quite a long experience of it. This is not really our scene, but we had to go through it. There were about 120-130 people there, many dressed in lederhosen and dirndls. However, I met some interesting people again, with whom we will certainly keep in touch more often. After the church service, we accompanied a church elder to her house, so we could see a bit of San José. She lives on a hillside and has a beautiful, paradise-like garden. She was able to lend me a mattress topper that I really need for my back. Otherwise, we don't get the impression that the city of San José is worth it.

It still takes a lot of energy to shape everyday life, especially since, at least for me, I came here in need of recovery. And when absolutely nothing works anymore, I have the option to fly back. But on the other hand, we experience so many exciting things here and relate to each other as a couple much more intensely. And we have people by our side who help us with problems and are endlessly grateful that we are here.
