Martin has his first funeral coming up, and I just took my first larger round through the neighborhood. I took many photos of beautiful plants that thrive magnificently in this weather. I also came into contact with a man on the street who told me the names of some plants. It is humid and warm, and it rains heavily in the afternoons and evenings. Fortunately, we usually have sunshine in the mornings. Yesterday a lot was prepared for today’s Oktoberfest, where 130 guests are expected. It will be a huge event; I'll report on that next time.
Both the funeral ($500) and the Oktoberfest are important sources of income for the community, which must largely finance the pastor themselves.
Yesterday I baked my first bread using a recipe from a church council member. This is how we are slowly settling into our daily routine. Next week we finally want to explore more of San José.
