Day 6 - Queenstown Gondola and Deer Park Hights
Today we went to Queenstown again. Among other things, we took the gondola to a viewing platform to take photos of the skyline; here you could also have taken a hiking trail up...

Today we set off and begin our journey north. From Arthurs Point we drove via Cromwell and Omarama past Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook, also called Aoraki (the highest mountain in New Zealand) to Lake Tekapo or Fairlie. We didn't do much else, but the drive was very scenic. The environment changed from snow and forest covered mountains to grass and shrub covered hills, followed by flat farmland (mainly fruit, wine and deer). The landscape around Lake Tekapo is again mountainous, with the largest mountain range in New Zealand, and many glacial lakes.
I was a little surprised at how much everything fit into my sister's little car... but if you can play Tetris, you can pack it :D
