I love it when a plan works out. But unfortunately, things never go as expected. But let's start from the beginning. On October 27, 2024, we were still at my mother's birthday party - about 30 km from our home. Since we took our coffee machine with us, we arrived quite early to have a calm breakfast. TV on, testing the router, and oops... entered the wrong PIN three times... well, that's a good start... but it's not too bad since we can still drive home. Shortly after, we received a call from our neighbors that we left a window of the car open... it's not a disaster since we need the PUK anyway. So, we drive back home after the party, take care of everything, get into the car, and then it hits us that we wanted to bring back the 'nice clothes.' So back to the house, leaving all the stuff there. Off we go for the wintering in Greece.
The drive goes via the A43 to the A2 and then the A3 southbound. Unfortunately, this highway seems to be just a series of construction sites, and we were making progress very slowly... but that’s fine since we still had plenty of time... we booked the ferry in Ancona for October 31, 2024, with camping on board. Unfortunately, we learned that there are strikes in Greece, and neighbors were postponed with their crossings. But we are optimists... we still have a few days until then. We spend the night at a rest area near Königswinter... wow, it was dark there... that’s not something we are used to. The next morning, we continue driving towards Switzerland. Nothing exciting happens, and we reach a picnic spot in France, specifically in Chalampe. A super quiet spot just behind the border. There, we can still eat the cake we brought from the party outside on a bench and have a cup of coffee... delightful. We walk an endless 200 meters to the Rhine to linger a bit and enjoy nature. Yes, this spot is truly beautiful. In the evening, we try out our cinema in the motorhome. Screen down, projector on, and Yellowstone can already be playing on the big screen.... it’s amazing. OK, it consumes electricity, but we can manage it so that we only watch when we can recharge the power station... it’s working again, and the journey can begin... Greece, here we come.
