Our morning drive in bright sunshine took us about 80 miles through the wonderful Glen Canyon with the Colorado River, which has carved deeply into the rocks. It's hard to decide what to photograph first. From the viewpoints, we walked several meters to the edge to see the river. Time flew by until we reached the turnoff to Lake Powell. This is actually just a widening of the Colorado River, as it feeds Lake Powell and is also its outlet. Huge ships in the harbor just for the lake? We couldn't believe it. Next, we went to the Natural Bridges National Monument. Beautiful hikes can be enjoyed here to the natural bridges. It was very hot, so we settled for a drive tour and photographing the bridges from a distance. We then arrived in the first town, Blanding, at around 3:00 PM. Here, we had a hearty lunch at the steakhouse. Now we have 80 miles to Moab ahead of us, again through stunning landscapes. In Moab, we check into the hotel, shop for gas, and then head to the state liquor store. Yes, nothing works without ID. So we had to go back to the hotel to fetch our IDs to get our wine. That's just Utah.
