The Lamru National Park is located in Khao Lak, not far from our hotel. So it is suitable for a little excursion on your own. Unfortunately, this was our last trip that we took before our departure. Soon we should be heading back to cold Germany. But first, a few words about the day!
The journey is the destination
Since the Lamru National Park is not far from our hotel, we decided to walk there. Just follow the road towards the mountain. However, we had underestimated the distance. The path seemed longer in the heat. However, this way we could get a nice view of the beach from above.
Another march!
Arriving at the national park, we paid an entrance fee of 100 THB per person and then made our way to the Small Sandy Beach along a jungle path. I had read that it should only be 800 meters away. No problem, we thought. However, it soon turned out that the 800 meters were more like a straight line... at least it felt more like 3 kilometers to us!
And here's my advice: Do not underestimate distances in the jungle!
It can really drag on in this heat. And once again, I sweated like crazy. However, the path was quite nice. Along the way, you had occasional views of the sea and the jungle was quite interesting to see. There was also a viewpoint, a beautiful photo opportunity!
Where is the beach?
After a good hour of marching, we slowly started to believe that we had been tricked. There is no beach here! But then came the glimmer of hope. Through the vines and leaves, we could slowly but surely catch a glimpse of a piece of beach. As soon as the beach unfolded in its full beauty in front of us, we knew it was worth it!
It can also be easier...
However, I was already dreading the way back. I didn't feel like dragging myself back through the jungle all the way. But behold, we didn't have to! There was another path leading back to the road. And it was a wide, well-built, direct path... I assume those were the 800 meters that were promised to me! :D
This time we took a taxi back to the hotel.
