Day 26, from Yagodina via Trigrad to a Bulgarian shelter.
In Yagodina, we first walked in the wrong direction for 10 minutes, then up through pastureland into the forests, uphill-downhill-uphill, etc. After 2.5 hours, we reached the village of Trigrad, where we looked for a grocery store to buy 4 bananas, bread, and 3 tomatoes for our day trip, as we didn't know if we would find any food later. Now we went back up into the forests, about 3 hours of ups and downs. In the end, we had to climb a steep 200 meters to reach the quite large shelter at Cairski Ezera. We were glad to see that the shelter was open. An old, very friendly woman greeted us and showed us our rooms, then she made us some food. We had scrambled eggs with vegetables. Afterwards, we disappeared into our rooms for a nap. For dinner, there was lentil stew with freshly baked bread, salad, and herbal tea. We were the only hikers here, we hadn't encountered any hikers on our entire trip!
