Iguazu Falls

We have spent several days exploring the Iguazu Falls and hiking through the rainforest in the tri-border area between Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil. Definitely the most breathtaking thing we have ever experienced! (Hopefully, we will be able to write that more often on this trip 😉)

A seemingly calm river that turns into a kilometer-wide delta and suddenly transforms into raging currents, plunging up to 80m deep. Along with impressive biodiversity, including various species of monkeys and the 'cute little' coatis, which turn out to be quite greedy. When it comes to food, they make no compromises, trying to steal tourists' backpacks and even biting to assert themselves.

For the Argentine side of the falls, it is advisable to allocate at least a whole day. There are many options to walk directly along the waterfalls (and get soaking wet), where one can enjoy the roaring masses of water up close.

Furthermore, you can take a boat to an island below the waterfalls and enjoy the spectacle from a different perspective. For the adventurous, there are various jungle trails that usually end with a boat ride.

The Brazilian side, on the other hand, is less spectacular but very beautiful for admiring the entire panorama of the Iguazu Falls, which only requires half a day. We ended the afternoon with a catamaran ride on the river below the falls and enjoyed the sunset.

Now we have a few more days of transfer with stops in Posadas and Rosario, and in 1 week, we will fly to Tierra del Fuego, the southernmost tip of the world.

Best regards, Bekki and Micha
