What must not be mentioned prevented our trip to the USA temporarily. So only a short trip to Freiburg and the Iseo Lake. But see and read for yourself.
Travelling with a well-rested Katja is great. After about 5 hours of driving, we are in Freiburg. Somewhere I read that it is conveniently located. I think, if you come from the east and avoid Karlsruhe, it's quite a detour through the villages.
There is no space available at the campsite. So we go to Hotel Central; ugly but the name says it all. We console ourselves with two spritzes each in the shade of the cathedral.
The stroll through the city center of Freiburg is nice, but the shops, especially the shoe shops, leave me dissatisfied. So I return to the hotel with a slightly dissatisfied rabbit.
We visit the Schlossberg as our next exploration destination, without knowing that it houses a very nice beer garden. Katja gets the second round. When ordering a wheat beer, the bartender, probably also due to the mask, asks back, 'A beer, or white wine?' Now Katja knows that in Freiburg, wheat beer is called Weizen.
We have dinner at a wine bar on the street. Two bottles of delicious Riesling with Baden-style tapas. Cheers.
