Day 6 Kaštel Kambelovac

ޝާއިޢުކޮށްފައިވެއެވެ: 12.08.2018

We spent the first day in Kastela doing nothing and taking a short walk to the neighboring town of Kastel Gomilica, where a well-preserved castle from the 16th century was visited on a nearby rock. This castle used to be connected to the mainland by a wooden drawbridge and provided protection to Benedictine nuns and residents from attacks by the Turks. Later, the wooden bridge was replaced with a stone bridge.

Kastel Gomilica and Kastel Kambelovac offer a charming ensemble of old stone houses, narrow streets, boat docks, and swimming spots.

In the town squares, you can see the typical Mediterranean scene of groups of men engaged in conversation on benches, children and teenagers playing ball games, laundry hanging on clotheslines across the street, and scooters zooming through the narrow streets. You can buy everything for daily needs at a tiny supermarket by the fishing harbor, and right next to it is the local wine shop. The fishermen sell their catch directly from the boat, while the rest is transported in a refrigerated truck.

In the afternoon, we dared to go into the water for the first time, and even the youngest one got to splash around a bit.

With these impressions, the day ended comfortably.
