Finally on vacation with my friend! We were very late in booking, so we didn't have much choice of available campsites. And so we spent a week in Chioggia.
Chioggia itself is a very old city, it already existed in ancient times. And it's somehow in the sea. Like Venice, Chioggia is also crossed by canals. However, Chioggia is much smaller, not so touristy and also run-down. Nevertheless, the place is worth a visit.
A bit further south, right next to our campsite, the Brenta River flows into the sea, a bit further south the Adige River and even further south the Po River. So everything is very flat. We were able to convince ourselves of this during a small, very hot bike tour.
The area here thrives on beach tourism. But the beach is also beautiful! And so we spent many hours there, relaxing and swimming in the sea, where you can also clearly see the tides.
A few times we also went out to eat. Pizza is not so common here, but there is fish and seafood. I'm not very knowledgeable about both, but I dared to try mussels, squid, and other fish and I'm glad I did. The local wines are also not to be ignored!
We will not forget, besides the campsite with the many Italians who camp there all year round with their loudspeakers, the heat of at least 35°C daily, and the traffic management: tiny two-lane roundabouts, but with 4 lanes of traffic.
