Tuesday, October 10, 2023, day 10
The day started with a spectacular sunrise over Clear Lake, I watched it from our friend's living room at 7:00 a.m. with a cup of coffee. After a very tasty breakfast together, I took a test ride on my friend's new Harley-Davidson (2000 cc, 150 hp) before we drove our motorhome back south towards San Francisco. We didn't miss the Scenic View at the Golden Gate, especially since we were standing below the fog and could see the downtown San Francisco skyline; Alcatraz was also within reach.
Then we drove our motorhome over the Golden Gate Bridge and south out of San Francisco onto the legendary Highway One, which always runs along the Pacific coast to Los Angeles. On the way there we repeatedly saw impressive and large pelican colonies. By evening (it gets dark at 6:30 p.m.) we made it to Santa Cruz, a well-known Eldorado for surfers. In this respect, the population there is quite used to seeing mobile homes parked everywhere in the residential areas near the beach in which people sleep. We did the same and parked the motorhome at the sparkling lighthouse near the Santa Cruz beach for our first night. Then we made ourselves a nice salad, made ourselves comfortable with a glass of wine and got ready for our first night in the motorhome.
