Ice goes away, rain comes

Udgivet: 16.04.2018

When I woke up this morning, I already saw outside that the ice storm had turned into a downpour, unfortunately it continued until the evening. The good thing is, it started thawing overnight, so it wasn't difficult to remove the ice from the car. Today, the 1000 Island Parkway was on the agenda, which is located on the way to Ottawa, my next destination. This road is located in the 1000 Island National Park between Gananoque and Brockville, and as the name suggests, it is a collection of over 1000 islands in the St. Lawrence River. The islands are all different sizes and some are even inhabited. Due to the snow and ice, it was an interesting and special natural spectacle, and I stopped as often as possible with the rental car to take some snapshots. Someone from a passing car approached me and asked if I was a bird watcher. They wanted to warn me that the boats always get so close to the five swans. Crazy. Well, after that, I continued straight to Ottawa, the capital of Canada. Since I had some time until check-in, I used it to stock up on food at the supermarket. I was very excited because this time I chose an Airbnb accommodation with a kitchen. At Airbnb, people rent out rooms in their apartments or entire apartments. In Toronto, I only had a room, now I have a whole apartment to myself. So the day ends with a freshly cooked tomato-zucchini pan with marinated chicken breast. How I missed cooking by myself! And the Bolognese for tomorrow is already simmering in the pot :D
