It's time: After 1.5 weeks of hard struggles, exhausting travels, and dangerous expeditions in the urban jungle, we have finally reached our actual destination: Auckland, the beginning of the end.
Too dramatic? Too bad.
Alright then, let's start over. After a flight where we surprisingly received a warm meal (which we actually didn't know about!), we began the Auckland adventure with a bus ride. An adventurous bus ride? It can be quite adventurous if you don't know where the bus is actually going, what the stops are called, and whether you will ever arrive at your intended destination. Surprisingly, we found our hotel relatively smoothly.
After an (also adventurous) search for food, we watched our first rugby game and found it 100 times more exciting than soccer.
Today, on Sunday, we decided to explore like explorers and first find a high point for an overview. In Auckland, that's Mount Eden, the highest of the 53 inactive volcanoes in Auckland. It's easy to see that the mountain has not spewed fire for a long time, as the entire crater is covered in grass.
From here, we could also observe two things engraved in metal: We are far away from home and our next big goal is not that far away anymore.
