Now it's time to say goodbye..

Wɔatintim: 01.06.2018

[by Franzi] So we were in Bangkok. Where we started our journey 3 months ago. However, it didn't feel like we were in the same city. It was much more modern and the buildings were much bigger and taller. It's amazing how different the old town of Bangkok is from downtown.

From our suite, we had a gigantic view of various high-rise buildings and a section of the Skytrain. But unfortunately, the view didn't change our mood and our lack of motivation. I think on that day we both realized that we would soon be going home again and we had to say goodbye to Asia. Really a pity, because we had so much fun here! However, I am firmly convinced that it was not our last trip to Asia - together or alone.

In the afternoon, we walked around the streets around our hotel. Every single street felt like a market. There were all kinds of stalls - food, drinks, clothes, .. Only behind them were the actual shops and restaurants of the street. We just let the charm of the city work on us that day.

The next day started with an absolute highlight - breakfast on the 42nd floor. On our trip, we had certainly had better food, but the view made up for everything in that moment. We simply enjoyed it and got a very good overview of the city.

We took the Skytrain to Siam Square. At the station, we found several huge shopping centers. One bigger than the other. However, we first had to find our way out and across the street, because that's where the actual Siam Square is, a large market hall with various stalls, mainly clothes. Due to the heat and stagnant air, we didn't feel like spending a long time here and took the Skytrain to Lumphini Park, where we took a little break. The park is located in the middle of the city and offers a piece of nature and tranquility. We found a table and sat down. A police officer came up to us directly, trying to communicate something to us, but we didn't quite understand. When the sprinklers turned on after a while, we realized what the police officer was trying to tell us. We quickly packed up our things because one of the sprinklers had set its sight on our table. So we found a new shady spot and spent quite a while here.

Walking around Bangkok and finding your way is simply amazing. So many cars and scooters on the streets, which we already knew from other big cities and also from the old town. But here, the city highway on a bridge was added, as well as the Skytrain above it, sometimes a pedestrian bridge, and the Underground. So 2 street systems on top of each other, plus two train systems and the pedestrian walkway. Amazing! I mean, just the idea of it is probably chaotic, and the reality looks exactly like that, but these many different systems on top of each other sort everything out quite well and there is hardly any traffic congestion. Nevertheless, everything is just so huge and impressive that this exists and also works!

Back at the hotel, we decided to visit the pool on the 10th floor and cool off for a bit. We succeeded quite well.

After a while, it was time to pack, which took us the whole evening. Somehow, we didn't pack as quickly as we usually do this time.

The next morning started very early, the alarm clock rang at 4:30 a.m., and at 6:00 a.m., we were on time at the Skytrain station to go to the airport.

We took the first train of the day and on the way to the airport, we watched Bangkok pass us by one last time. When we arrived at the airport, the usual procedure began: check-in luggage, security check, passport control, .. Our flight to Dubai departed on time at 9:00 a.m., and unlike on the outbound flight, we had no problems with flying this time. We watched movies and talked, and before we knew it, the 6.5-hour flight was behind us.

In Dubai, we quickly moved from one gate to another and soon we were sitting in the next plane. This time, we sat on both flights on the lower deck of the A380, previously we had two seats at the edge, but this time we sat in the middle, so in the row of four. Next to us sat a couple whose seats couldn't be adjusted, so they were assigned new seats. To our delight, we had the entire row to ourselves and accordingly spread out, watched a movie together, and played some of the offered games.

The flight took a while, after a while we already landed in Frankfurt. The flights went smoothly and we arrived safely and well.

As soon as we had our luggage, we set off for the train to go to my place. That worked out very well, and after a very long journey, during which we didn't sleep, we finally arrived at my place, totally tired and just fell into bed.

Wow, now the last blog entry is written and our entire trip can be read online. I have to say, we had a wonderful time in Asia and I would definitely do it again at any time! However, a summary of the whole trip from each of us individually will follow.

Until then,

Franzi and Jonas

P.S. Please excuse the delay once again. As soon as we were back in Germany, our obligations started again: work, applying to university,..
