England June 2017 - From Sheffield to Scarborough

Wɔatintim: 07.05.2018

After all the family celebrations, our actual vacation on the coast of England finally started. Our first stop here was Scarborough, but for that we had to take a three-hour train ride.

Once we arrived in Scarborough, we took a taxi to the Amrock Guest House, which we had already booked from Germany. The accommodation was small but nice and the owner was very hospitable. So we first settled into our room, which made a nice impression. Not very big, but clean and perfectly adequate for two nights.

Now the question was what to do with the rest of the day. It was only noon, but unfortunately the weather was very English, which means: wet and windy. In the end, we decided to explore the area despite the weather. The little town is quite nice and has a lot to offer for its size: a pedestrian zone with various shops, a nice promenade, a swimming pool, two cinemas, two beaches, a castle, several parks, a Sea Life and even a small amusement park. During our exploration, the weather even improved a bit and the sun briefly appeared.

In the evening, we decided to watch the new 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie in the small cinema around the corner. Quite old-fashioned and we were the only ones there, but at least it was cheap: D
