The last day of our motorhome holiday started. Actually, we should have been back already, but luckily, Mom was able to extend the motorhome rental so that we could still visit Avignon on this last day, the former papal city.
Of course, we went in with our bikes again. Of course, we saw the bridge from the famous song. There was also a large square with many restaurants and, of course, the Palace of the Popes. We visited it from the inside. In my opinion, there wasn't much to see there. The murals were mostly damaged, there were only statues and floor tiles in one room. Nothing was left of the original windows. But everywhere there were plaques with a lot of explanations, also in German, and there were some exhibits. All in all, it was quite interesting, but we were all just exhausted. None of us were in the mood to see more of the city, so we embarked on the long journey home.
My parents took turns driving. We stopped in Freiburg to take a break and have something to eat. In the middle of the night, we finally arrived home from one of the most beautiful family vacations we had ever taken. The cats and grandpa had missed us.
