Interrail 2021: Prologue

Ishicilelwe: 07.05.2021

Hey, we (Babsi and Veronika) were actually planning to embark on a train journey from here to Beijing right after our first state exam, most of which would have been done by the Trans-Siberian Railway through Russia. Due to Corona and the associated uncertainties, we reluctantly decided against it and both started working at school (which was also a very enriching and wonderful time for both of us!)

However, since we didn't want to completely abandon our joint travel plans and both received a vaccination offer through work, we quickly agreed on an Interrail trip through Eastern Europe as a substitute for our original route. A part of Europe that neither of us has really traveled to, but that we both find incredibly exciting.

That being said.... since the decision and spontaneous change of plans for the trip, organization and planning have been in full swing. The route through the main cities, through 10 countries, and over a period of 2 months was quickly found. Although planning the route was still not as easy due to Corona, with the privileges of being vaccinated and extensive research on when and under what conditions one can enter which country with which means of transportation, the trip should be carried out according to our expectations without major problems.

Spontaneously, Lukas (Babsi's boyfriend) is accompanying us on the first leg of the journey, because 'I can watch online lectures from anywhere' :D So Corona also has something good.

In short, we want to try to keep you up to date through regular blog posts and share the beautiful and challenging aspects of the journey with you. Have fun! :)
