We walked back to Carate at 7:15. Wolfgang insisted on walking instead of riding with the luggage. It was already very hot at that time. After 1.75 hours, we reached the car. Wolfgang bravely made it through, although he couldn't enjoy the birds, monkeys, and coatis.
Then came the bumpy 35-kilometer journey to Puerto Jimenez, where our luggage was waiting.
I exchanged $100 at Banco Nacional. It was quite a process: filling out forms, making copies of the passport, and so on. However, $100 here is not worth more than €100 in our currency. You can almost always pay in dollars. Tours and hotels are always priced in dollars, but it's better to pay for ice cream, water, or a beach chair in the local currency, colon, otherwise you always lose a bit and end up with a lot of coins.
We continued on a small, winding road to San Vito in the mountains at about 1000 meters above sea level.
Here, we were surprised by a beautiful, perfectly equipped accommodation. We had a view of the valley and the mountains across. A huge bed with the same view, a great bathroom, electricity, hot water, internet... so much comfort. The temperatures were extremely pleasant. You needed a jacket after sunset! 😇 In the evening, we had an excellent meal on the terrace with a fireplace cooked by the very nice Belgian-Costa Rican family. Pure luxury! To finish, we had homemade limoncello. Wolfgang couldn't fully enjoy the food yet, but the liquor helped him ☺️.
Now we hope that he will be better tomorrow.
