Melbourne / Adele / Canberra

已发表: 03.06.2017

There I was, alone again in the hostel full of strangers. It was still hot in Melbourne and I got sick because the fan was running all night. But first, I had to go to the library to plan my next trip. I'm going to Sydney via Canberra, the capital of Australia. So I have already booked the bus and the hostel.

In the last few days in Melbourne, I spent some time taking another look at everything and taking photos. One well-known motif are the beach houses at Brighton Beach. So I went there. I haven't been there yet. Unfortunately, it was a hot day and everyone was at the beach. So many people were in their beach houses and you don't take pictures of them, of course. But I was still able to take a few photos.

On Sunday, it was time to pack my bags because the next day I'm going to Canberra. But the highlight was still on the agenda. The Adele concert!

It was a bit weird to sit alone in the stadium without company, but it didn't matter. Because the concert was absolutely insane and unfortunately, it was over way too quickly. When 70,000 people leave the stadium at the same time, there is naturally a traffic jam and it took ages until I fell into bed, exhausted.

Melbourne seemed to be sad that I was leaving because it was pouring rain. So I went straight to the bus stop and waited for the departure. It was an 8-hour bus ride back to Canberra. But the time passed relatively quickly. When I arrived in Canberra, it was already 8:00 PM and dark. Now I had to find my way to the hostel. Luckily, some people from my bus were going to the same hostel and I just followed them. Checked in there, did some quick shopping, and went straight to bed after dinner.

The next day, I took my time. Had a leisurely breakfast and went to the Canberra Museum. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to see there and I wanted to move on. But it started pouring rain again. So I quickly went to the library next door and looked around there until it stopped raining. Normally, the first place I go to in a new city is the Visitor Centre. I eventually made it there and made a plan for tomorrow. For today, I still had the War Memorial on my agenda. It was beautifully portrayed and very interesting.
Unfortunately, it started raining again and I was hungry, so I went back to the hostel.

I had more on my agenda for today. First, I went to the Royal Mint. That's where the Australian coins are made. I find it very interesting, but unfortunately, there were school classes there and it was correspondingly loud. So I went to the National Gallery and the Portrait Gallery next door. But there was another school class. That really bothered me because I couldn't read the stories behind the portraits when it was so loud around me. It started raining again outside and I only went to the library across the street. However, I was so soaking wet that I was really in a bad mood. When I was dry again and it had stopped raining outside, I was originally planning to go to the government building. But I really didn't feel like it anymore and I thought, "Oh, you can just look at the photo on the internet." I went back to the hostel and enjoyed my last evening there.

Many people say that it's not worth going to Canberra. It's just a small city and there's not a whole lot of exciting things to see. But it is the capital of Australia and I didn't want to say that I was in Australia but never in the capital. Besides, I want to have been in every state of Australia by the end of my trip. So only New South Wales and Queensland are left.
