The controls at Los Angeles airport went surprisingly smoothly, allowing us to leave the airport within an hour. We took a shuttle to an Uber pickup point to get to our first accommodation in Downtown Los Angeles.
In the car, we all sat captivated, hardly able to believe that we were finally together and that three exciting weeks full of fun and adventure lay ahead of us. The planning quickly took shape when Nico suggested attending a baseball game. Spontaneously, we booked tickets that same evening since we wanted to stay awake until the evening. We were aware that the timing could be tight, as we also had to pick up our rental car, but we were optimistic about making it.
After about 45 minutes of driving, we reached Downtown. At first, we were a bit shocked because the streets were full of people, and their living conditions seemed quite different from ours.
Our accommodation was located in the heart of Downtown in a large apartment complex. The space was spacious, but it had a slightly musty smell, and a small cockroach welcomed us upon our arrival. However, we didn't have much time to unpack, as we had to rush to pick up our rental car from SIXT.
So, we set off on foot through downtown L.A. It quickly became clear that we didn't want to walk often in the dark at night.
After picking up our car, we returned to the accommodation, where we quickly changed before heading to Dodger Stadium.
Upon arrival, we were impressed by the size of the stadium. However, we encountered issues with our tickets, as they were not available for retrieval. Fortunately, Franci managed to sort that out, and to our surprise, we even had seats in the box.
The atmosphere in the stadium was fascinating, but the mood didn’t quite meet our expectations, especially given the $87 we had paid for four beers.
Having been awake for 26 hours and feeling quite exhausted, we decided to leave the game early and made our way back to the accommodation and to bed around 10 PM.
