Day 7 - Nature, History, Shopping, Boston

已发表: 03.06.2018

Today we are heading to Boston. My stomach was also rumbling today. I was famished. We had our breakfast on the terrace of Cape Cod Inn. But I settled for a banana, yogurt, and a bagel with cream cheese. Overall, Cape Cod Inn is a great place to stay for several days.

After breakfast, we drove back through Cape Cod National Park. Here, we visited some notable beaches and viewpoints, including:

Head of the Meadow Beach

Highland Light

Newcomb Hollow Beach

Marconi Station

Nauset Light

Three Sisters

We have added some photos of today's tour so you can see the different locations. It was truly beautiful.

On our way to Boston, we made a stop in Plymouth. The replica of the Mayflower is supposed to be located there. The Mayflower is the ship that the Pilgrims used to sail from Britain to the American coast and establish their settlements. Unfortunately, the Mayflower was brought to Mystic for restoration in 2018, so all we could see was the empty pier and Pilgrims Memorial Park. There is a large stone in the water near the pier with the year 1620 engraved on it, marking the landing.

After visiting the park, we had a quick snack. I had a delicious tomato and mozzarella panini from a quaint bagel store. Sabrina treated herself to a croissant with egg, cheese, bacon, and an Oreo milkshake. Marcel had a tasty cocoa from a plastic bottle and a croissant.

Our next stop was Wrentham Outlet. I had a Tommy Hilfiger coupon for 40% off polos and t-shirts and an additional 20% off the entire purchase. It was only valid until today, so we had to use it.

The outlet is big and definitely worth a visit.

After the outlet, we made our way to Boston. We decided to change hotels and booked the Holiday Inn Express. Since I am a club member, we got the room for two nights at a slightly lower rate and parking for the tank was included. When we arrived at the hotel, we unloaded the entire car and repacked our suitcases. You can see a photo of the luggage cart here. Marcel had trouble pushing the cart because it was so heavily loaded. The receptionist was quite surprised as we passed by with the cart.

After inspecting the room, we got hungry. We decided to visit the Cheesecake Factory. Since it was already dark and we didn't feel like taking the subway, we took the car. There was a parking garage at the shopping mall where the Cheesecake Factory is located. The car barely fit inside. It couldn't have been more than 4 cm higher, otherwise we would have had a fancy convertible.

We quickly found the Cheesecake Factory. As always, you have to wait a bit until the waitress seats you. We got a rather peculiar lady as our server. It seemed like she hadn't heard much about friendliness. I decided that this would also affect her tip.

Marcel enjoyed his Chicken Belaggio, which he had already tried in several Cheesecake Factorys last year. I tried a pasta dish with lots of vegetables and Parmesan-crusted chicken.

Sabrina ordered tasty pasta with tomato and mozzarella sauce.

We also ordered a delicious piece of cheesecake to take back to the hotel. As it was almost 11 o'clock by now, we just wanted to go to bed. Quick to the car. "Quick" should only refer to the spoken word. The mall had such poorly marked parking garages that it took us nearly 20 minutes to find our level. Finally reaching the car, we drove to the exit. The restaurant had validated our ticket, so we only had to pay a fraction of the regular daily rate. The cashier demanded $12. Great for a 2-hour meal. ;D

The next day, we explored Boston.
