Good morning
This is probably the first blog post of my trip...
Yes, the arrival (January 11, 2024) didn't go exactly as planned, but I arrived at the hostel after almost 10 hours. To get from the airport to the hostel, I ordered an Uber, which showed me how to drive in Mexico... without rules, without indicators and as soon as there was an opportunity to overtake somewhere, I used it, regardless of the road it opens up.
The next day (01/12/24) brought a few more impressions of this huge metropolis, there is street food, magazines and jewelry stands on the streets everywhere. Actually you never have to go to the supermarket as you can get everything on the streets. And it's warm... at -4° at home and then here in the 26°, yeah. Later we went to the Centro histórico, where there are many beautiful buildings (I actually don't feel like naming them all😅). In the evening I ate at a Mexican vegetarian restaurant.
Today (01/13/24) I went on a little adventure to the pyramids in Teotihuacan. It took me about 1.5 hours to get there by subway and bus. The bus didn't stop in front of the park, as I thought and it was advertised, but in the city itself. So I had to walk another 2km along gravel roads and between street dogs to get to the entrance to the park. You could have booked an all-inclusive tour, but where would the fun be in that? I then paid the €5 entrance fee on site and traveled back in time around 2000 years. At the time, Teotihuacan was one of the largest cities in the world. It is a huge complex with a particularly spectacular structure: the Pyramid of the Sun. This is 65m high and has a floor area of 225m × 225m but the complex in general is very impressive. If you like souvenirs and can negotiate in Spanish, you will definitely be happy there. You can find everything there, from skulls to scarves and T-shirts to cool animal whistles. After a while I left again and took the bus and subway back.
