Arrived in Wellington, we looked for an affordable AirBnB accommodation with Luisa and Denis. Before we went there, Claudi and I went shopping and went to Mt. Victoria to get an overview of the city. It was chaotic at PaknSave because of the reduced prices for Nikolaus. Oh right, Nikolaus! There were also dozens of sweet and savory samples that we could taste.
Then we went to Tim, our slightly plump host. To our surprise, there was a cardboard wall in the middle of the living room, behind which Tim apparently lived. He only had a few square meters for his "room". Nevertheless, he was very nice and the internet speed was amazing :D
The next morning, Claudi and I explored the city. The first thing on the list was the Cable Car, which is one of the landmarks of Wellington. We searched for it in vain. Only after asking passers-by, who kindly led us there, were we able to ride the Cable Car :)
We got off and took a little walk. Then we went back to the city and went to the Te Papa Museum. It is quite large, very modern and also free! We walked along Cuba Street, strolled through shops, ate fish & chips and arrived at our accommodation slightly exhausted. We decided to explore the nightlife of Wellington with 6 people and after a few rounds of beer pong, we ventured into the night.
The next day, we had to check out again. One last time we went to the city and ate the best sushi we ever had. In the afternoon, we took the ferry to the South Island. Unfortunately, we had bad weather during the 3-hour journey through the fjords of the South Island. We continued by car to Nelson and spent the night in the city center on an "overnight stay parking lot".
