Today our plan is to visit Krabi, the city that gives its name to the region. After the usual routine: dozing in bed - breakfast - pool - getting ready, we set off on our scooter. After about 30 minutes, including a stop for fuel (filling up for €2.50, which can take you about 100 kilometers), we arrive in the city and park our scooter in the shade. After refreshing ourselves with an iced coffee, we explore the city center on foot and try to find the square where the night market will take place later in the evening. The square is quickly found, so we wander around the area and browse through various shops.
Hunger eventually leads us to a humble little snack bar. There, we have a noodle soup (7/10), a rice dish (7/10), and two fresh iced teas, all for a total of €4. After the meal, we sit by the water - Krabi is situated on a river - and spend some time playing Yahtzee. After all, we need to pass some time before the night market starts.
By 4:00 PM, the market is in full swing, but we don't stay there for long as it doesn't quite live up to its promise according to online reviews. Both of us are a bit exhausted from the city, so we decide to leave early and visit a beach where we can admire fossils. On our way out of the city, we are surprised by one of the famous 5-minute showers. Jonna manages to put on her rain cape while driving. However, I get drenched and there is no dry spot left on me. Fortunately, I am soon dried by the returning sun and the breeze while riding.
When we arrive at the beach, we realize that we would have to pay €6 to visit the section with the fossils, but we are already too late - the park is closed. Nevertheless, we enjoy the wonderful view, stay there briefly, and then continue on our way.
This time, we enter our town (Ao Nang) from a different side and pass through the touristy restaurant, bar, and party street. It's quite busy and there's a lot to see. After a short visit to the beach night market, which we also find uncharming and too touristy, we have dinner near our accommodation (fried noodles with duck for €1.30, 7/10, and a type of chicken soup for €0.80, 5/10), thus ending the day.
