I spent the last 2 weeks at Karina and Guillaume's domaine de Sulauze. They own a lot of land to grow the wine they sell worldwide. The first week, I mainly worked in the vineyards and vegetable garden.
On Tuesday, Karina took me mountain biking for the first time. At first, I thought she wanted to go on a little bike ride. I didn't expect it to turn into an hour of adrenaline and scares. But I liked it, so we did it again several times.
On my first Saturday, there was a small charity party where two friends of Karina and Guillaume gave a little concert. On Sunday, we went to Arles for a wine tasting. As the ultimate wine connoisseur, I had no idea how it worked before. To avoid getting drunk, you take a sip of wine, add air by slurping, and then spit out the wine. The rest in the glass is poured out. For me, it was a waste, so I drank everything that was poured into my glass, and I ended up quite tipsy.
The second week was all about bottling and labeling. We had a maximum of 3 days for bottling, so we worked non-stop and ended up bottling 19,000 liters of rosé wine. My task was mostly putting the empty bottles on the conveyor belt or putting the full ones in a crate to be labeled.
On Saturday, we went to Lyon for one night, where I had my first couchsurfing host. The apartment had an amazing location with a view of the Saône and the Rhône.
Today, I continued to Taizé, where I'm spending Holy Week.
Wishing you all a happy Easter.
