From Medellin to Salento

Today we leave Medellin and take the bus to Salento.

So first take a taxi to the Sur terminal. A large bus station where all southbound buses start. We paid €14 per person for the tickets and the journey should take 6.5 hours (for 310 km). Google Maps now shows 8 hours of travel time and the information on the internet varies between 6.5 and 9 hours.

The bus is not as comfortable as in Chile and we are constantly stuck in traffic jams due to the many construction sites.

When we're not stuck in a traffic jam, we go up and down through the mountains and are overtaken on the right and left...completely chaotic, but

somehow it still works.

There will be a stopover halfway through the route

and a bus stop in Pereira. Then we're stuck in a traffic jam again.

The journey takes 8 hours and in between we think about whether we should fly to Bogota. On the other hand, you really see a lot on a bus trip like this, so we decide against it for now.

We are in Salento around 5 p.m. and have to walk from the bus to Plaza di Bolivar, from where the jeeps start.

This can be done quickly but costs 18,000 pesos, which is quite expensive compared to Medellín. At first glance, Salento seems to be a very beautiful place.

Unfortunately we only reach the KAWA Mountain Retreat in the dark, but the first impression is very good.

After a delicious dinner and a wine in front of the fireplace, we fall into bed tired (from doing nothing).
