After a peaceful start to the day, we set off to 'Tane Mahuta', the largest existing Kauri tree (13.7m circumference, 2000 years old).
Our Jucy fights its way up the steep and winding jungle road at almost 40km/h, we don't win the mountain prize but the view is amazing!
The area becomes more and more deserted, the path leads to Cape Reinga (the northernmost point of NZ). Beautiful!!
Back to civilization at sunset, low on gas and empty wallets...
A great discovery: a free place to stay behind dunes overlooking the ocean. Under the starry sky, we enjoy a late dinner. A peaceful night with the sound of the sea...
