The wind subsides in the night, we admire the starry sky and a shooting star.
Our journey takes us on a winding road through valleys, forests and dry, brown meadows. There is an extreme risk of fire and several thousand people had to be evacuated due to bushfires around Nelson. Apart from road closures and closed campsites, we don't notice anything about it. Nelson proves to be a very beautiful city and the fish & chips at lunchtime were excellent.
The further journey is incredibly beautiful, as it leads directly along the sea. Arriving in Marahau, it's bustling with tourists. Two campsites are fully booked, but we're lucky with the third and last one in the area. A funny place surrounded by llamas, cows and goats. Evening program: bathing in the ice-cold river, doing laundry and preparing for tomorrow...
