We thought Whitsundays is paradise... we were wrong. We found the real Garden of Eden north of Cairns. During another search on Wikicamps for the next cheap but cozy accommodation near the Daintree National Park, we came across it. Only 6 dollars per person and the commenters couldn't stop raving. We had to go there.
When we made our way to the campsite after the Corocodile Tour at the Daintree National Park, we once again realized that we had underestimated the distances in Australia and it's a 50-minute drive. During the drive, we made jokes about how we're only taking this route to save a few dollars. But when we arrived, those thoughts were blown away. Fred and Jeanette, two wonderful hosts, have created their own Garden of Eden with their 'Feather n Friends' property just above Port Douglas. The whole property is filled with different exotic plants, fruit trees, and animals. There are all kinds of birds, which of course Rahel loves, and in the evening the wallabies and pademelons come to the meadows to eat. The best part was that we were the only guests and we could park our campervan somewhere on a large meadow. We liked it so much that we spontaneously extended our stay for another day and happily made the 50-minute drive to the Daintree National Park. ;-)
