Where Schiller and Goethe lived and why Weimar outshone Berlin…

On the list of places "you must definitely visit" in Germany, Weimar is also included, and due to an appointment in Gera, Cindy and Bert decided to embark on a city tour.

Moreover, the maiden voyage shouldn't necessarily go too far, you never know.

Schiller and Goethe, the two romantics, were well known to reside here, and you can visit their residences, embedded in the well-preserved architecture that surely already shaped the streetscape back then.

Schiller’s place was packed, so we visited Goethe - what can I say: he lived quite spaciously!

But to be honest: yes, it was good to see... especially since the romanticism doesn't particularly resonate with me, I must sadly admit.

However, the visit to the “House of the Weimar Republic” was all the more interesting and helped fill some of Cindy's knowledge gaps in German history 😎.

Since Berlin was too hot a spot for politics after World War I, the National Assembly convened in Weimar until 1920, making Weimar the center of power during this period. And logically, it was the namesake for the Weimar Republic.

That was enough for the first day, as winter time, even with sunshine, isn't very exhilarating, and we headed back to the camper van, the reason for the trip.

For beginners, there is so much optimization potential that every day is full of successes that one has never heard of before.

Often, it's the small, simple things that bring so much joy, like closing the air vents on the dashboard for improved thermal insulation.

You have to figure that out first 😊🤣
