Our days in LA were counted and we had to start thinking about our next steps. We had to sacrifice two days for all the planning. It was clear that we would fly from Las Vegas to New York in the end. It's hard to believe, but the cheapest flights were from there. The only thing we knew up to now was that we would fly from Las Vegas to New York no later than December 23rd. But we still had three weeks remaining. What should we do? Since we are not overflowing with wealth, it should be as cheap as possible.
Unfortunately, due to this fact, San Diego and San Francisco were ruled out quickly. Yes, I know you see the 'Golden Gate Bridge' on my cover photo, just be surprised! The accommodations there were incredibly expensive, so we decided against them. On the next step, we looked for a suitable route to drive from Las Vegas with appropriate stops. After a long consideration, we decided on Palm Springs and Phoenix as the stops. With this route, everything would have worked out! So we looked for the next accommodation in Palm Springs and booked it right away.
For a moment, Tujunga caught our eye due to the incredibly cheap accommodations. This is the border area to Mexico. After thorough research on the internet, the Tujunga matter was quickly resolved. Not only could the return trip to the US become difficult, but it is also a really criminal area. Not completely safe for tourists.
As of now, we planned to spend about a week in Palm Springs, Phoenix, and a few days in Las Vegas. The following week was secured. Transport from A to B was also clear, by rental car. It was only short distances after all.
Sooooooo now comes the resolution. The plans changed partially the next day. A family from San Francisco, known to Carina, offered to host us for a few days. So instead of going to Phoenix, we decided to go to San Francisco. Mega cool! We also compared flights and rental cars again. The flights would have cost us more in total. So the rental car was the obvious choice. That way, we can remain more flexible.
Monday was departure day. And I had to pack again. Oh no!
How is all this ever going to fit into my backpack? 'Shaking my head', I almost despaired. Somehow, thank God I managed it. It didn't all have to be packed in accordance with airplane regulations, lucky me 'laugh'. We then took an Uber taxi to the car rental facility. The drive there, let me tell you, was a disaster! The guy drove nonsense despite having GPS. So don't say anything against women. You men aren't exactly geniuses on the road either *hehe*. Well okay, that was mean. On the way, we picked up someone else. And he had to be dropped off in the worst neighborhood in LA. The name of this neighborhood was Compton. Rumor has it that there are multiple shootings here every day. It looks really messed up too. Sorry for the language, but that's just how it is! We made it out of there safely. Fortunately, we were also a little late at the car rental facility, but it didn't cause any problems with our online reservation. We had decided on a small mini car, like a Ford Focus, in advance. When we got to the car and loaded everything in, it was closed due to overcrowding. Our backpacks were strapped onto the rear seats. The rest was in the trunk. Off we went! Palm Springs, here we come.
The drive to Palm Springs was very monotonous and boring. It must be said that we were moving further and further towards the desert and nothingness.
A huge desert park to see from the highway.
So now we have arrived in nothingness. There wasn't much more to see until we reached our accommodation.
We did find a few living beings though. :-)
The contrast from the city to here was extremely stark.
