On 6.3. we leave France behind and, after having breakfasted on baguette, croissant, and eclair, we cross the border into Spain. Contrary to expectations, we have been able to leave our identification documents in our pockets and have only found outdated border buildings covered in graffiti. The temperatures rise and it gets greener around us. We continue driving along beautiful coastal regions with palm trees, agaves, lavender in all variations, and blooming fruit trees for another 280 km. Berno and I bob our heads to Spanish songs in the car and sing 'Gipsy' and 'Bis nach Toulouse' over and over again. Before Peter can have a nervous breakdown, we are already there - Mataro, with the wonderful campsite 'Barcelona' is our destination.
In the afternoon, we explore the harbor town of Mataro, about 2km away, with the stroller. Actually, there is a free shuttle bus, but we are athletic. Having arrived in the city on foot, we pass the gradually awakening beach promenade, dip our feet in the cold water, and visit the small old town. - Nice, but also quite big, so we soon went back to our campsite. Of course, we did not find the mentioned shuttle bus at the bus station, so we had to take a taxi back home. In the evening, Berno briefly lost his good mood, so we all went to bed early.
