Our Ford Nugget was already very well equipped for all kinds of trips from the factory. However, we wanted to improve it a little more to meet our needs.
We wanted to have the option to be self-sufficient on our tour. Firstly, to be able to stay in beautiful, quiet places. Secondly, to save some money and not have to sleep on a campsite every night. So, we needed a solar panel.
I bought the solar system from Solara GmbH in Hamburg. My friend Kristof from the Pkw & Nutzfahrzeug Zentrum in Buxtehude installed it, and I was able to assist him a little.
The initial tests show that it was absolutely worth it. All electronic consumers (fridge, water pump, lights, etc.) are now supplied by solar power.
Then we needed some more storage space, shelves, and other useful little things. You can see some of them in the pictures.
I built and installed the aluminum box and wooden cover with my father.
We cut the carpet in Cologne with the help of Annika's family.
Annika and I made and installed the inserts and other things during night shifts. The new seat covers allow us to travel worry-free with a toddler :)
Now, just under two weeks before the start of our trip, we are almost finished. Only a few finishing touches and things to make our Nugget a little cozier are missing.
