At around 09:30, we leave our hotel U Santu Pedru and follow the D81 along the coast, admiring Île Rousse as we pass by. We turn into the mountains and drive along a winding road towards Calvi. The tight curves seem endless and have a "Pfalz" quality in some sections. In Calvi, we stroll through the market and buy a fresh baguette. After Calvi, we stop on a hill and look back at Calvi while having a snack. Then we continue on the next winding road towards Porto. Our fuel is running low and we come across two closed gas stations. With a remaining range of 24km, we can't take any chances. Marita brings along a friendly Frenchman with his Honda DAX who escorts us to the next gas station. There, we fill up with his Blue-Card. We settle our debt in cash, including a tip, and express our heartfelt thanks to the kind Frenchman. Then we continue the remaining kilometers to Porto. We are amazed by the breathtaking rock formations of the Calanche. It's worth being here during the off-season as there is hardly any tourist traffic on the roads. In Porto, which is mainly made up of hotels, we have a difficult choice. In the end, we decide on the hotel that is closest to the bay. This way, we can listen to the breaking waves all night long...
