Yes, today I went to Kuranda, to the 'Village in the Rainforest' as announced, and I can tell you: there is a lot of rainforest here :D
I arrived around 10am with the Railway. A train line that winds its way up the mountain. Past breathtaking views over Cairns, a lot of rainforest and also a spectacular waterfall, which is even more impressive now after all the rain.
After a 10-minute stop at the Barroon Falls, I finally arrived in Kuranda after 1.5 hours.
Kuranda is a beautifully located rainforest village that attracts tourists (90% Asians) with numerous wildlife attractions and small shops. My way led me to the butterfly sanctuary along the small souvenir shops on the main street. For $20, you can admire dozens of colorful butterflies in various colors and sizes. It can happen that you are used as a resting place. 😂
When it was almost lunchtime, I decided to have crepes. For this, I sat at a bar overlooking the rainforest. And what was on the crepes??
Right: Nutella 😊🤷🏼♀️
Afterwards, I didn't just walk past the shops, but went inside as well, and well, what can I say... Some things came with me. 🤷🏼♀️ #frauenundshopping
My favorite acquisition, however, is an opal ring 💍 with a white opal that can appear blue, green, and also red. Something very special and will always remain a special souvenir from Australia!
And then it was time to go down the mountain. And that with the Skyrail! Within 40 minutes, it takes you with two stops and across and through the rainforest to the 'Valley Station', where this adventure ends.
To be continued...
