Back in Albania, we continue our small town road trip and head to Kruja. By the way, the highways here are excellent - there are very bad roads here, yes, but also very good ones. The funny thing is that the speed limit is reduced to 40km/h at every exit (which, let's say, is not always followed 100%) and that the new highway is being improved with construction sites that eliminate slight curves by cutting through mountains, so that the road will be truly, I mean really, straight in the future 😄.
So we make good progress and arrive happily in Kruja, at a nice campsite. Unfortunately, there is not much shade, but the people are so nice that we can't move on.
Kruja has a beautiful bazaar with 200 shops offering two different kinds of products. We buy carpets and other things for our new little house, things we may not remember when unpacking - it's a lot of fun!
The second highlight is the castle of the national hero, whose fortress tower is now held together by 3 large straps. During dinner, we enjoy good food in the restaurant and Heidi has a highchair. Once again, it's the little things that make us very happy 😁
Kruja is small and hot, so we continue to Tirana, the capital, which Hansi has been looking forward to for a long time. We experience our first traffic jam, but it's okay, Heidi is sleeping. Eventually, we find the parking lot we have chosen for the night and set off on a tour with a very good feeling. Our first stop is a café for us and porridge for Heidi 👌
Afterwards, we visit BunkART, an old bunker turned into a museum. It's fascinating, but somehow difficult to understand - either the information is presented strangely, we chose the wrong one of the two bunker museums, or it's because of Heidi's restlessness or our hunger.
Something is not right. Well, let's go eat and stroll through the city. But it doesn't get any better, not even a bazaar can cheer us up (which rarely happens). We need a break from the city: as often happens, we change our meticulously crafted plans, get in the car and drive to the seaside to a campsite where, according to the reviews, all you can do is relax. Sounds very tempting after our hot day in Tirana 😊
