In Cleveland, we spontaneously decided to go to Columbus next.
Wow, what a good decision we made!
When we started our 2.5-hour drive to Columbus on Sunday, we were once again speechless when we had no traffic on the streets of America.
Arriving in Columbus, we checked into the Red Roof Plus hotel. When we wanted to enter our room, a big, built man was already inside 'our' room. Oops, the reception checked us into the same room by mistake. :O Due to this misunderstanding, we now got a room on the 7th floor with a great city view and free parking :) We got lucky once again. Our trip in Columbus was starting off great!
In the late afternoon, we headed to the Scioto River. Wow, what a great view with a beautiful skyline. The weather was also perfect at 25 degrees. We enjoyed the afternoon relaxing on the promenade with a lemonade. Back at the hotel, we tried an American washing machine for the first time. We managed the first time doing laundry well, at least our clothes are still the same size! :-)
The next day, we decided to explore the city ourselves. However, Columbus is a 'small' city, so we quickly walked through the streets of Downtown.
In the afternoon, we once again relaxed on the promenade and, of course, got a sunburn.
In the evening, we decided to have Mexican food. Thanks to TripAdvisor, we found a great restaurant called Bakerfield. We enjoyed our last evening in Columbus with nachos, margaritas, and tacos.
The city of Columbus puts a lot of emphasis on cleanliness, architecture, and the overall cityscape. With the great river, breathtaking skyline, buildings, and parks, Columbus is the most beautiful city we have visited on our trip so far.
On 11.04., we will head to Detroit and are looking forward to the city known for its former auto industry.
